We provide counselling and support for patients with persistent, chronic pain.
Our approach consists of three steps
- Deeper understanding of the pain
- Medical assessment
- Treatment and evaluation
In order to properly understand the patient’s pain level, we refer to the current physical and mental situation, the cause of the pain, its connection with other factors, the treatment to date and the response to that treatment.
For a medical evaluation of the pain, the above information and any available reports and diagnostic findings are also considered, supplemented by careful medical examination. This then leads to suggestions for further diagnostic tests and/or the opinion of a consulting physician. Invasive pain therapy (infiltration therapy, neural therapy) is another service we provide, along with complementary medicine and behavioural therapy and the use of various relaxation techniques.
Together with the patient, we develop a plan to manage the pain based on the pain evaluation and previous experience with medications and treatment. How the pain responds to the agreed-upon methods is regularly discussed and the treatment plan is adjusted accordingly.
During our pain consultations, a close exchange of information takes place between our staff in the following fields
- Occupational therapy
- Specialists (complementary medicine, orthopaedics, neurology and psychiatry)
